National Scratch Competition

This competition is aimed for students in elementary level to practice programming and create their own games or interactive stories using Scratch. Coding skill, corresponded to computer science subject, is an important skill of the 21st century when technology plays an important role in our daily lives.  In addition to being able to practice programming while participating in this competition, students will learn how to think systematically, logically and to eventually create their own programs using their creativity.

Why Your Kids Should Participate in National Scratch Competition?

Application Process and Judging Criteria

  1. Decide on the type of project (can be either a game or an animation).
  2. Create the project according to the following competition criteria.
    • Game
      • Must have either scoring or timing system in the game.
      • Must have the conditions for winning and losing and be able to display the ending screen showing to a player that he/she wins or loses.
      • Must use sound effect.
    • Animation
      • Must allow a player to have an interaction with it
      • Must have AT LEAST 3 background changes
      • Must use sound effect.
  3. The theme of the project must be “New Normal.”
  4. Record a video clip describing the project to the judges. The video must:
    • Be no longer than 3 minutes.
    • Introduce the full name and nickname of the student.
    • Describe how to use the product.
    • Describe the source code of the project to show that it meets every competition criterion.
  5. Upload the video clip to YouTube ONLY.
  6. Fill the link generated from YouTube and Scratch in the following form: shorturl.at/dmvXB. shorturl.at/dmvxB
  7. Wait for confirmation response of the first round of the competition via an email.
  8. Wait for the result of the first round of the competition, which will be announced on our website (http://event.codegeniusacademy.com/). 
  9. If selected to be one of the finalists, prepare for the second round! 

**Note:

  • One applicant can only submit one video clip. If found to have sent more than one video clip All video clips submitted will be void immediately.
  • Code Genius School can use video clips and source code sent for publicity purposes.
